Title: 知覚 - Perception
Rating: PG13
Series: Fullmetal Alchemist
AU: 鋼の侍 - Hagane no Samurai
Warnings: Alternate Universe - Feudal Japan, Supernatural
Word Count: 1575
Characters/Pairing: Edward Elric (Hagane)

Summary: An unexpected encounter at an abandoned shrine.

Author’s Notes:
Writing the characters as samurai is an entirely different headspace than usual, it’s fascinating. I've been working on the samurai canon for years but it's the one I've written the least for, mostly because I want to get it pitch-perfect when I do write it. Still I struggle ... but we're getting there.

You Passed the US Citizenship Test

Congratulations - you got 10 out of 10 correct!

Wow, that thing was easy. I don't get why people think that's hard. >.>

Saw The Brothers Grimm. Major "eh" ... it had promise but gah, a lot of it failed. The begining of the movie disturbed the flow and was never properly resolved, and the sole "strong" female character is turned into a damsel in distress. 9.9 Meh. Did have its laugh-out-loud moments, though. The resolution was silly, too. I think the most amusing part was my mom pointing to the French general and saying "he's a Bond guy! I remember him! With Teri Hatcher and stuff! The media doom guy!"

"Media doom guy." My mom wins some times. (Yes, it was Jonathan Pryce, too. *is amused*)

In short, I'm glad I didn't pay for the movie. Wasn't horrible, but still ... could have been SO much better.

There was also gratitious mentioning of beans in the movie. It was fun to watch Edward flinch.

[livejournal.com profile] sky_dark updated "Better Living Through Alchemy." Lord, she's letting Edward teach kids. That's the most terrifying thing I can think of, and yet she pulls it off so very well. I'm still not one hundred percent sure he isn't going to try to brainwash them and make them into his own personal army or anything, but regardless it will be entertaining to watch.

That's about it. I ran around, did some last-minute shopping and got a few packages shipped out. Now, I think I'm actually going to tackle my room so I can work on the goddamn-coat-which-I-keeping-saying-I'll-work-on-but-I-don't, because if anything my dream last night made me paranoid I wouldn't get it done in time. >.>

I am still traumatized by Scar in my dream.

I have succeeded in cleaning the area around my desk. I swear it was ankle-deep in CDs, floppies, papers, art supplies and the occasional DVD. Kind of scary. Also found a needle and thread, although I'm still trying to figure out how that got mixed up in there, considering all my sewing stuff is in the computer room at the moment.

I was working on my short red jacket the other night, ripping out more elastic. Whee! That'll be cool to have and wear around. I can't wait for fall ... I like fall and spring. When it's cool enough for pants and long sleeves, but not too cold that you can't wear a tee shirt. I've taken the clasp off my black jacket so I can wear it without people making the o.O face at me. More people are recognizing my Edward jacket every day now, I'm torn between "oh so COOL" and "acck, *now* I feel silly wearing it."

Speaking of jackets, I need a new pattern. >.> I've got all the pieces cut out for my Munich!Edward coat, but that's as far as I got. My mother's sewing machine stopped me dead. I can't figure out how to work it, so I'll have to set up my own. And that requires getting into my closet, which is currently blocked by about fifteen boxes waiting to go into the attic.

Working on fic for [livejournal.com profile] 3_alchemists but I dunno if it'll get posted or not, because I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON. *glares at [livejournal.com profile] luckycat_r* I hope the comics will return once everyone goes back down to school, because I want to work on it and she's the crack!genius. She takes our everyday randomness and turns it into cracky comics. Anyway, Russell is snarking and it's funny because I like to poke him. (Or punch him in the face and sneak off while he's unconcious. *snickers*)

Also, finding crack!fic extraordinare. Apparently I write strangely funny things when I'm bored. If I ever get around to typing some of this stuff up, I'll post the snippits here. The entire story isn't really worth reading, but some of the exchanges crack me up. One of them involves what STARTED as a regular conversation turned into a screaming-insult match. Thank you, Edward and Catie, for being unable to have a civil conversation. Poor Al, he walked out of the room for one second and they went for each other's throats. *is way too amused by this fic* Also, I'm way-too-amused by the RK-02/HP crackfic crossover I found. Kenshin, you're a bastard.

Oh, grife, that reminds me. Okay, I was hunting for the Edward-pillow-that-wants-your-soul. I was standing in the parking lot, putting a bag into my trunk when I heard this loud "MEOW!" and I spun, fully expecting armor!Al to be sitting on the ground behind me. STUPID, STUPID VIDEO GAME.

Let's see, what else has been going on? Organizing my DVD collection, selling off older anime DVDs and staring as the pile of stuff to watch grows. I still need to finish watching M*A*S*H. Ack. And [livejournal.com profile] luckycat_r's Comic Party DVDs. Ack ack ackity ack. *does a Bill the Cat impersonation*

Oh, yes. OMGSQUEEFMAMOVIE. Someday I'll actually see it. ^__________^
