I went out and about yesterday, and when I got back it was to discover water had started pouring from the ceiling in my bathroom. It slowed very quickly to a trickle but the damage was one - my copy of Foucault's Pendulum was the biggest victim, followed quickly by the cat's littler box. I put down bowls to catch the water drips and promptly called the emergency maintenance line. I've yet to hear from a member of maintenance but the water has stopped dripping completely, but now I am quite pissed that when I did have water pouring from the ceiling no one bothered to show up. What if the toilet had broken? What if there was enough water moving to flood not only my apartment but the one below me? The apathy in this situation astounds me.

In other, less argh-related news (sob, my copy of Foucault's Pendulum! I WAS READING THAT, DAMMIT), I am about halfway caught up on my ongoing anime series, nearly in time for the Fall season to start. Thoughts so far:

  • Ao no Exorcist: Man, I am adoring this show. I kinda want to poke my head in the fandom, but I'm afraid this will be another 26-episode-and-over show like 07 Ghost was. We'll see. I kind of love Rin and his typical shounen-stupid attitude, but he acknowledges that he's inherently an idiot and actually tries to study and get better at things. And then he runs headfirst into trouble anyway.

  • Beelzebub: This is a vaguely amusing show but I'm not invested in it, it's so silly and over the top it does make me laugh with regularity. Now that there is an actual, ongoing arc I'm a little more keen on following it and looking forward to the next episodes.

  • Blade: The fourth of the Marvel shows airing this year, and vampires and vampire-hunters, to boot. To be fair I've been enjoying this more than the other Marvel adaptations, although the most recent episode and the team-up with Wolverine? I was rolling my eyes a lot.

  • Bleach: Some days I wonder why I'm still watching Bleach, and somedays it becomes so utterly lol-tastic that I recall. This would be the latter, because this current arc is so bad it's interesting. The "new" character Nozomi fails the Mary Sue Litmus test on all counts - and while I know logically that characters in canon technically can't be Sues ... yeah, right. When the "canon" is more cracked out than some of the fanfic...

  • Blood-C: This show has intrigued me from the get-go. I've heard a few complaints about the CLAMP-pacing, but the randomness of it seems to add to the unsettling layer. The animation is gorgeous, and I think Saya's new character design is pretty cute. I enjoy the strange dichotomy of klutzy, goofy, singing-and-distracted-by-anything-shiny daytime student Saya with the completely badass sword-slinger that nighttime Saya is. Despite the twists in the most recent episodes this has yet to venture into the OH MY GOD WHAT territory of Blood+. (Give it time, CLAMP is involved.)

  • Dantalian no Shoka: Oh dear. I don't recall why I had this on my 'watch list', but I am glad I did. This fills the niche Gosick left nicely, and it hits a disturbing number of Catie-specific kinks. Let's list them: Set in Europe in pre-WWII; the main male character is a) ex-military, b) ex-biplane pilot, c) waistcoat-and-shoulder-holster wearing and d) blond. Catie was ruined from the get-go. Doesn't hurt that this is about occult-styled books. Sure, there's the loli-who-is-older-than-she-appears but again, reminds me deeply of Gosick so I am content. (I have decided that Huey is very much a good inspiration for my reverse'verse!Russell, rather like Kujo from Gosick reminded me strongly of Rian.)

  • Deadman Wonderland: I finally finished it! Only took an extra month. This show is disturbing, violent and bloody and yet keeps my interest. I hear rumors that there will be a second season - I certainly hope so because I want to know all the answers too.

I still have a decent chunk of series to catch up on; Digimon Xros Wars, which I hear has gotten a second season is up on the plate next. I'm also behind on Fairy Tail, Gintama, and I intended to catch No. 6 and The iDOLM@STER this season to. SO behind, and then I have to get back to my grand ol'marathon in the first place.

The insane and obscene amount of research I've been doing for my bigbang this year is staggering. And it's random things, too, because I've become obsessed with getting random little details right. My other browser window has tabs open about Linus Pauling, Marshall College, pictures of Cambridge University, pictures of changshans, a timeline of important events in the 1930s, and a map of Florence, Italy. All that, and I'm barely 2,000 words into the first chapter. (Out of a projected ten.)

And of course can't forget my stack of books all around the computer either. I seriously need to stop reading about Fulcanelli because a) it's not helping me and b) it's REALLY not helping me. Apparently the man claimed to have studied and become an adept at alchemy in a parallel world to our own. I read that particular bit and went FUCKING SERIOUSLY. In conclusion, I am NOT going to make Fucanelli a pseudonym used by Ed in the 1930s because... because the biography on Fucanelli scares me enough as it is. Curiosity, cat, you know the drill.

I've dicked around online long enough, back to the fic. I hope to get Chapter 1 done today, after all.

Y-youngest in history to earn the rank of exorcist?

o1) The school is like a cross between a traditional Japanese school and Hogwarts. The keys to get into the hidden exorcist side are fucking awesome.

o2) It's the younger brother who is the genius exorcist, but FUCKING STILL.

o3) They have more in common with Winchesters than Elrics, but "brothers close in age who do stupid shit for each other*" is a particularly strong kink of mine. (Not in the slashy way, just in the CATIE IS IN HER HAPPY PLACE way.)

o4) Mephistopheles. I can already tell [livejournal.com profile] starving4scotch would love him.

o5) Rin looks like fucking CAVAN. [livejournal.com profile] serhenya , he looks like Cavan. If he turns into a wolf, I am tapping out.

Man why are there only three episodes out so far? This is why I tend to wait for shows to complete before I watch them, and it also cuts down on my flail and my potential to actually get into fandom. Of course, that's a mixed bag, as I still muck around in the same fandom I joined in 2003. There's manga to be read, but I am weighing whether or not I want to get into that yet. I feel like I should go out and buy the first volume for the sheer amount of enjoyment I got from these three episodes, but that's just ONE MORE DAMN THINGS TO MOVE. I'll probably get it tomorrow, I have to go to Hamburg Pavilion anyway.  Did I mention I was doomed yet? Because I'm doomed.

I'm going to watch the Derby prep now, and after that's run maybe shower and go catch a showing of Thor.

*Nothing so far, but given Rin's personality it's definitely only a matter of time.

So I'm watching the Inuyasha movies today! Hurrah! I've seen the first three each when they originally came out (crappy fansub versions and all) so I barely remember them. The first one was... pretty mediocre, and the artwork was horrid. The second one is fun, I remember it as my favorite although I couldn't remember why. And now I'm watching the third one. Now, the third one sticks out in my memory for some reason, and I couldn't figure out why. Then there was an itty bitty baby Inuyasha in the beginning and I go "aww" and figure that's it.

No, no, now I remember why it sticks so vividly in my mind.

What in all the holy hells is the Higurashi Shrine doing with kusanagi-no-tsurugi? The kusanagi-no-tsurugi? That's supposed to be in a shrine at Atsuta! That's, that's, hell, that's like Excalibur showing up in some random Englishman's bathtub! Yes this bothers me a little bit.

BAH.

Okay, gonna keep watching now, but. BUT. BAH.

(At least it LOOKS like Grasscutter is supposed to; the double-bladed short sword instead of a single-bladed katana unlike SOME versions I have seen, hmph.)

[Edit] Oh, phew. It's just the idiot grandfather unable to read kanji properly and THINKING he had kusanagi-no-tsurugi. I was going to be very pissed at the writers otherwise.

Shit damn fuck; first brakes, THEN shocks and alignment. My brakes all of the sudden decided they don't like working. I didn't get any squeaking or strange noises, just suddenly I have to push the brake in further than the clutch and pray I stop in time. It doesn't help that it's fucking pouring down rain and my tires don't like that to begin with.

Aaaaaaaugh I don't get paid until NEXT Friday. Hold together, car, please hold together. @______@;

My nice, wonderful evening of working on my frigging bigbang has been shot to hell by some stupid spyware, trojan and malware combonation FROM HELL. Now that I've got the system restored I'm running a scour-and-nuke session with everything I've got.

As if to make life even MORE better, I have had the killer-cramps-from-hell for the past few days. Never in my entire history of menstruating have I ever had cramps this bad. Literally, doubled over in pain at some points. I'm significantly better today than I was yesterday but oh the humanity. Midol+hot baths keeping my epic orz to a bare minimum.

I'm off work tomorrow because I switched shifts with a coworker because I'm a nice person. So I do have to work on Saturday but I am so glad to be off tomorrow you people don't even realize.

Also, I will eventually start making phone posts again once I remember I can. Y'all are lucky I didn't remember NOW because you would have gotten an earful of verbal keyboard smash.

I HATE REALITY SOME DAYS. Can I move to Amestris, soul-sucking transmutation circles and all?

I am exhausted, can hardly breathe through my nose, have the worst migraine in the history of ever, am really very pissed off at my bank and generally in the worst mood I could possibly be. I would complain that this day can't get any worse but I know better than to tempt fate and in fact am going to sulk and take a hot bath when I get home. And then sleep.

I hate Saturdays so damn much.

Pissed. 5/3 is epic fail.

One overdraft of $68 dollars resulted in almost $400 in overdraft fees. For seven days.

One of the overdraft fees is $165. BY ITSELF. With no explanation other than "you overdrafted, now cough up."

OH GOD SO PISSED.

The regular overdraft charges? I can eat, that's totally my fault. But everything else, WHAT THE DAMN HELL.

So, everything in my life is going swimmingly, I'm proceeding with the move cheerfully.

Then the gearshift snaps in my car Friday afternoon.

Of a holiday weekend.

God fucking dammit.

Mrrgh. Total of three carloads worth of stuff transported so far. Status: moved bathroom; moved 1/5th of bedroom. To go: 4/5ths of bedroom; whatever crap I've got in the 2nd bedroom (not much, I don't think); living room and kitchen.

Uh.

Heeeeeeeh.

Major ridiculous power outage last night, half of Richmond was out WTF. Still no idea what caused it, I should go get on the Herald-Leader site and see but I'm lazy. Trying to decide if I want to ping [livejournal.com profile] starving4scotch and gank her inflatable mattress so I can sleep at the new place Friday night, or if I just want to go back to Richmond and load up the car before bed.

Kinda leaning toward staying in Lexington. If only to save on the gas; although it's not like I'm going to turn around and not make another trip or two on Saturday.

Yeah, I just gotta remember to load stuff to SLEEP ON as well as clothes tonight. xD

In other news; been doodling at work again. One random doodle of Ed turned into a fully inked picture. I, uh, have to find my scanner. Maybesomeday. Kinda futzed the automail because of trying a new technique, but I am ridiculously amused at the fact that I spent SO MUCH TIME on his left arm and now it looks awesome. Even though there's nothing special at all about it.

Things to do tomorrow: another load of stuff; remember! Tools, stuff to sleep on, pillows, clothes. Laptop. Coins, so I can cash out some of the rolls to buy the last desk I saw at Wal-mart and liked (if it will fit in the space I want it to). I can unpack some of the stuff Friday night and reload the few bookcases I've already carted over. SO MUCH WORK. I will be dead by the end of the month, holy crap productivity.

Power went out for half the city last night. Stop. Could not make food had to go get something. Stop. Think the outage fried the modem. Stop. I HATE THIS TOWN. Stop.

...I'm being mocked.

And for everyone who was remotely BZUH? over my Jinchuu foam, it is the spectacularly badass final arc from the Kenshin manga that was GOING to be animated but it GOT CANCELED during its FILLER ARC.

/not insanely bitter, what are you talking about?

ARGH. Damn you weather, DAMN YOU. I had just beaten this stupid migraine and your funky ass weather brought it back. I RAIN UPON YOU THE CURSE OF A THOUSAND SUNS or something.

Yesterday was, uh, full of yay. I finally drew some stuff! Yay! I of course did not scan it because I am full of fail. Something to do after work tomorrow.

Additionally, I've been attempting to write again. My writing is horrid and wooden and needs a looooot of work. But, uh. New Supernatural novel comes out August 26th; Season 3 comes out on DVD September 2nd and I have gift certificates to Best Buy to help afford the DVDs.

Upside! Put in application for apartment! Should know soon if we actually get it!

Downside! I just got paid and I've got about $30 to last me two weeks! I need new tires so I don't die horrifically! (Nevermind gas and food and stuff!)

TIME TO SELL LOTS OF STUFF.
