I originally intended to go see Speed Racer this weekend. (I still may, weekend's young.)

I may or may not have gone to see Iron Man again.

I also may or may not have killed Emily with the 'care bear stare' comment.

I am kinda slinking over the line to the Marvel side of the fence at the moment. There are about three things that keep me from jumping over to the Marvel side completely, and one is Batman and two is that I really fucking hate the X-men.

Argh, yawned and my jaw cracked. I should go to BED, I've been in bed at ten o'clock the past two nights and today it's, well... two a.m.

I need the Iron Man soundtrack.

Oh god, the Speed Racer movie. If Prince Caspian weren't on right after ACen, I'd go see that.

I'm gonna take my mom to go see Prince Caspian as we've turned fantasy movies into ... something we go see together. My dad doesn't care much for them and it saves him the trouble of having to go see them. xD;

I would like to see Speed Racer, I'm just moderately terrified that it will be seizure-inducing.

I'm moderately terrified that it will be the coolest thing ever. The Mach 5 looks /nice/.
I'll probably try to hit both of them... sometime.

Speed Racer's gotten bad-to-mixed ( http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/speed_racer/ ) reviews. With eight thousand other good movies coming out in the coming weeks, it might be worth it to wait for the cheep theatres. Or at least hit a matinee.

Did you read Alias and Pulse? Best Marvel Books ever.

Ok, maybe not ever, but I really liked them. Also, Runaways and Young Avengers. I avoid any of the new stuff having to do with Skrulls.

Most of the reviews I saw were mixed. I still want to see it, and I never had high expectations of it. I don't trust rotten tomatos, because a lot of movies they panned I ended up liking. ;D

I've heard good things about Young Avengers, but I could not stand Runaways. Maybe the book got better after the first series, but I didn't care for the first bit at all so I didn't look up any more of it. I don't read a lot of comic books at all any more, I really need to fix that. ('specially since they're a good thing to read at work with the way the job itself works.)

New Avengers and Captain America have also been really good for the last few years. You could always join Nathan and I in being Marvel fans who don't really like the X-Men. Plus, after the whole House of M thing they dramatically pared down the number of mutants and the importance of mutants and the X-Men in the metaplot stuffs.

Lots of things I need to check out, it sounds like. I must make a reading list. xD
Saturday, May 10th, 2008 01:11 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I can see where you wouldn't like Runaways. It's... different for a comic. Deffinatly more of a comic directed at the girl crowd, what with the relationship drama, which is a little unsettling for a comic. *shrug*

You could also read through a bunch of the Ultimates stuff if you haven't yet. Spider-man is pretty good, although I've really only read about a third of it spread out accross random issues. Ultimate FF wasn't half bad. (Jonathan's now telling me that he got into Ultimate Spider-man through you, so mabye that was a dumb suggestion).
Saturday, May 10th, 2008 01:17 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I've got Ultimate Spidey thru 100 or so. xD; I *like* what I've read of the Ultimates, I ... just need to read more. I need to head back out to the comic book store, I think they had some of the Ultimates trades in the 5$ grapic novel bin.
Saturday, May 10th, 2008 01:22 pm (UTC)
I need to raid that bin, esspecially since I just got my state tax refund AND my economic stimulus package yesterday!

Man, it can suck as far as I care. I'm going to see the Mach 5. Plus it's not like the cartoon didn't suck it's far share too, I think that was the appeal of it though.

-tempts you will non X-Men comics like Iron Man and The Runaways and The Young Avengers and various others-

>:D

Runaways is just one of those comic I disliked all the way through the first arc, I've really no desire to read the rest of it. But like I said in another comment, I've heard a lot of good things about Young Avengers so I'll have to check that out at some point as well. xD;
Saturday, May 10th, 2008 01:27 pm (UTC)
You can borrow my copy of the first Young Avengers trade. For that matter, you can borrow my copies of Ultimates Vol. 1 and 2 (Kate has my Ultimates Vol. 1 right now).
Saturday, May 10th, 2008 02:50 pm (UTC)
Oooooh yaaaaaaay. xDDDD;
Saturday, May 10th, 2008 03:05 pm (UTC)
Runaways is one of those that you either get into or don't. (A lot of it depends on the writers. Some of the arcs were good, others were....-_- Yeah let's not go there.) Young Avengers is awesome. =D It's a nice break from the normal adult super heroes, that's for damn sure.

Ultimates is good too though volume 3 is....character rape. Let's just put it that way. D: I'm not a huge fan of the Ultimate Universe though so my opinion may be a bit bias.

You can't go wrong with the old Spider-man stuff either. =D Before Joe Quesda destroyed forty years of history just because he hates Mary-Jane.

Mom's dragging me to go see Speed Racer. She grew up with the original show so right now she's all giggly and excited on seeing it.
