Probably oughtn't be making a post from work, but I suppose as long as it's the worksafe variety no one will care too much.

Thinking about strangling the landlady. If you want to change our verbal agreement on payments? That's fine. Taping something to our door dated two days ago and then stating if you don't hear from me by 5:00pm you'll be calling a lawyer? That, m'dear, is sheer cowardice. You have my contact information.

I found that lovely note when I left for work today. It was dated 5/7/08. Today is 5/9/08. Said note was NOT on the door when I got in at almost 10pm last night.

YARGH.

On that note, I love my job. It can be a touch aggravating, but I still love it. Now, if I could get the whole apartment thing straightened out properly life would be peachy keen.

Last weekend for ever and ever. (From here on out, I work Saturdays.) MUST ENJOY IT.

[Edit] 20 episodes remaining in Fushigi Yuugi. I am enjoying that show far more than I thought I would - even though I know what's coming. I can do without the OMG MIAKA OMG TAMAHOME, but it's ... not bothering me as much as I thought it would.

I think my muses are hiding from the girly anime, though, because it's ripe for ridicule and they're absolutely silent. xD

I remember FY being very addicting... even when I wasn't sure I liked it, I could not stop watching. I bought 8 dubbed VHS tapes back when they were 29.95 each... and then I marathoned a bunch of subbed tapes for all of season 2 that my friend had bought.

The Miaka/Tamohome thing is annoying, but their relationship does change over the course of the show as both characters grow up, so that helps it along.

I really didn't expect it to BE this addicting ... I watched Ayashi no Ceres a few months back and it was a *chore* to finish, even though the premise was fairly interesting, and it was only 26 episodes.

I'm kinda rethinking my position on shoujo anime a tad bit because of it. xD;

A word o non-spoilery advice about the OVAs...

The show ends after 52 episodes, but there are three OVA series that follow events directly, one of which was two episodes (I think), the second of which was 6 more episodes, and the third block was a couple more. I've seen the first and second OVA series, but lost interest and never watched the third. You can conceivably stop where the series ends, because the OVAs are just more of the same melodrama with lesser plotlines, without the punch and drama that the final episodes of the show achieves. (It *does* end pretty great, if memory serves.)

I would say that if you finish the show and *really* want more, watch the OVAs. The second and longest set, which was I think six episodes, I did like somewhat (and it actually caused me to jump to a new favorite ship which was a weird experience so late in a series). But if you think you're done when the tv series ends and want to move onto something else, don't lose sleep over the OVAs.

I watched about 6 or 8ish episodes of Ayashi no Ceres several years ago, when it was new, and I didn't like it. I never finished it, because I thought it took a lot of the sexist stuff that was present but minor in FY and twisted it up much darker and more violent in AnC.

Also, the thing that I always liked about FY is that it's the story of Miyaka and Yue, of their friendship and their home-made war in their fantasy setting. I didn't see anything that *solid* grounding the main characters in AnC...except some heavy hints toward incest, which doesn't make for a reliable relationship between characters. Anyway, the whole show icked me out. I might try it again someday, being a little older now than 16 or 17, but if so that will be a long way off.

I'm kinda rethinking my position on shoujo anime a tad bit because of it. xD;

I used to say I didn't like shoujo... but I gave up on that after I discovered that two of my top 6 favorite anime series EVER were

1) about a girl in high school surrounded by a bunch of people who turn into cute, depressed animals when hugged.

2) about a ballerina-in-training who has to dance to save the soul shards of a prince who was reincarnated from a storybook, before the giant raven comes back to life and eats the town.

Once you realize that, there's no going back and you *have* to admit you're okay with some shoujo, some time.

I have always been kinda okay with shoujo, it just hasn't been my cuppa, y'know? Escaflowne is one of my favorite series in the history of ever, and it's... really damn shoujo for a mech series. (I don't count MKR as a mech series, and I don't know why. CLAMP is just CLAMP, I guess... )

I sat through all of Ayashi no Ceres mainly because I'd read some of the manga and I just wanted to know how everything ended. Now I wish I could get that couple of days back. I think I' physically incapable of not finishing a show when I have all the episodes on hand, though.

I've actually seen the final FY OAV, which is why I have hints as to what's coming. It was years and years and years ago and I have no idea why I watched it when I hadn't seen the show itself, but yeah. I'll probably look for the OAVs since I'm enjoying the series so much, and I'm completist like that.

The OVAs *do* come with some pretty hilarious omake shorts at the end.
