Okay, I'm trying not to post a lot on this because people are sick of it (not that I can blame them) but has anyone else had their interests arbitrarily removed? Yaoi, yuri and slash have all been removed from my interests list. Anyone else?
Interesting to note those interests have NOT been removed from

This is so totally internet history. I'm amused, horrified, and absolutely awed all in one fell swoop.
The LJ servers are not robust. xD; There must be thousands to millions more clicks right now because of the insanity, I would not be surprised if LJ went down in the near future.
I can understand the not notifying about the takedowns right before they happened, but if having things such as incest or rape in your interests was illegal by the TOS, that should have been more clearly outlined in the TOS and the FAQ. Yes, we're all playing in Livejournal's sandbox but before yesterday we all had a trust in them that they would do whatever they could to work with us. That clearly is no longer the case.
I'm considering moving to GJ but I have so much history here ... plus the Firefox widget doesn't work for GJ. xD; We'll see what happens over the next couple weeks in the grand scheme of things, as well as on my friendslist. If most of the people I know go elsewhere, then what's the point in staying anyway?
I've not talked to Kate in forever. Tor told me it was because she never updated it anymore, which makes me sad because we could at least contact her through it if all else failed. That's her prerogative, I guess. Make me v. sad, though.

I am going to stick it out for now and see what Livejournal has to say about the situation. Maybe they will take it all back and apologize. I think that would be best. They certainly need to make it up to their users. I would hate to see it come down to a line in the sand, not before we can figure out a way to cross-interact w/LJ & GJ friends (that would be awesome!)
The craziest part is that it is all based on interests - they are just words! They could be inside jokes or just random words from a dictionary. They cannot be taken at face value. I can understand if they are used to pinpoint illegal journals, but looks like most weren't even investigated. If they had actually looked at your journal they wouldn't have deleted your interests, and the same goes for most of the other journals/comms affected.
This is just totally psycho.
And Kate is a loser. =P Well, I will miss reading her posts...she did update often enough that I knew she was still alive. If she comes back please let me know so I can re-friend her. I tend to migrate to other sites/journals/screennames every once in a while.

I'm gonna stick around too - and I don't know what is going on with interests. They're setting precedent, for better or for worse - and I do kind of agree with what they're doing. The blanket-delete is actually better than going and saying "well, we read your journal and condone THIS content but not THIS content."
However, I think there should be an appeals process so that people unjustly caught in it could argue their case. That would be the best thing I think they could do ... they would not be reverseing their own policy but in fact opening the door to *gasp* communication with their users!!!
I am just supremely impressed by fandom in general. Yes, a lot of things they're rallying around I doubt will do much good in the scheme of things, but the fact that they are rallying and the fact that they are organizing is just incredible. Whether it's for better or for worse I guess only the future will tell.
