Brad and Aya approve this message!

Pictures will be mostly towards the bottom, as I don't feel like matching them up all that much.

Anyway, the adventure started not Friday, not Thursday, but Wednesday night when we all convened on [livejournal.com profile] castalidragon's homestead. (Hereafter refered to as Kirin, to keep myself sane.) We ([livejournal.com profile] greyaugust aka Aya; and [livejournal.com profile] luckycat_r aka Marin) finished up costumes, dyed hair and the like in preperation for the trip on Thursday.

Thursday

Getting on the road was the hard part, but once we were gone we made decent time. Indiana is one long stretch of FLATNESS and I despise it. .____.

Once we arrived at the hotel, Marin and I departed for Teh Line of Greater Doom aka the registration line. THAT was an experience I'll never want again. >.< I got to talk to a LOT of interesting people ... I'm not ususally so outgoing, but when you know you have SOMETHING in common with people it's so easy to just randomly blather.

Also, I had my first picture taken on Thursday... I wasn't even in my Ed-costume, just wearing my coat. o_O

I got to meet [livejournal.com profile] daidoujisan in line, I saw her a bit up from me and cocked my head. Then I poked Marin and asked her "Does that look like Cheryll Mustang to you?" and she went o_O? Then I rolled my eyes and went to go ask. ^_^

After the monsterous wait time o'DOOM we went back to the hotel after meeting [livejournal.com profile] jes_schu aka Pyrochan. We had to turn around and go meet her sister, who was one of the last ones out of the registration line, and they collectively made me put on my costume. We wandered over to the Hyatt, got part of Pyrochan's Roy costume; then decided we were hungry and wandered towards the only (cheap) foodplace nearby... McDonald's.

Fortunately, the Mickey-D's was 24-hour... unfortunately it was drive-through only. Solution? Walk through the drive through.

We meandered back towards our hotel in time to watch the second showing of FMA episode 26, then crashed.

Friday

I hopped out of bed, put on my costume and went to prowl the con. The first thing I cared to see was Fullmetal Fantasy, so I wandered for a bit before it was time for that. That was how [livejournal.com profile] acdragonmaster found me. She couldn't get through to my cell Thursday night (WTF was up with my cell and Chicago? It hates me. >.<), but since we met up we decided to go see the movie together. The rest of the group didn't care about it, so we went and got seats in the second row.

Re: Fullmetal Fantasy

CRACKED US THE FUCK UP.

Apparently, ACen was the first showing of it? God, it was glorious. Vic and the other v.a.s really care about this show, the effort put into this fanmovie was incredible. After the showing, Vic stood and talked about how it was made, and took lots of questions about the effects and how it was shot. It's a great, great thing and if you go to a con where it is shown, GO SEE IT AND SUPPORT IT!

Incidentally:

Moofy <3s you.

After the movie, I bummed around with [livejournal.com profile] acdragonmaster until the first of the FMA photoshoots. This one was the one with the emphasis on [livejournal.com profile] recasted_series; (which if you're looking at me cluelessly, go check it out, it was created by [livejournal.com profile] hime1999 and is one of the coolest things ever) got a good # of pictures out of that.

After the photoshoot, we all ran to the FMA fan-panel, which was originally going to be hijacked to talk about alter/recasted!series. However, about five minutes in, everyone noticed that Vic had snuck in to the panel, and it turned into Randomness with Vic. XD

He talked about the lost episode 52 where Roy is gay and he was trying to come up with a good "partner" for Roy. Everyone was shouting Hughes and Marin and her incessent repetition of [livejournal.com profile] hime1999's comic (if you know it you know of which one I speak) came to mind and I shrieked "Armstrong!" XD Then Vic said "we all know who's the male in THAT relationship!" and everyone died. XDXDXD

He ripped on Travis and Roy a bunch, and overall it was the funniest thing I had been to. ^_^ *makes mental note to go to more panels* [livejournal.com profile] daidoujisan got video of parts of the panel... much love to her. (I'm sure half the shrieking on the videos is me. I'm right next to her. :D)

Got my picture taken with Vic! <3

After that, I hit the dealer's room and got some doujinshi...

I met Windchime [livejournal.com profile] automail_junkie at the panel and we became buds for the rest of the con. :D We went to help [livejournal.com profile] acdragonmaster paint her Al costume but as I am apparently incompetent in that regards, I simply hung around and chatted a bunch about fanfic, and of course FMA.

We called it a night after that.

Saturday

I got up and cruised the Dealer's room, and met up with Windchime and [livejournal.com profile] daidoujisan. We ran around a bit and generally killed time until the official FMA photoshoot.

Good grief, the photoshoot.

Our shoot was so big we got moved several times. Vic and Caitlin both showed up for it as well, which was INSANELY cool. XD

Lots of pics from that:

Then they moved us.

Yes, that was really really really cool.

After that we all ran to the "official" FMA panel, which ended up being a question/answer series with the voice actors. More cool stuff was heard, and then Vic sung some of "Soldier A". *cracks up* Also, I got to actually see Chris Patton...

...which reminds me that I saw Greg (Ayers) running around several times but only got to say hi each time. :P

Chris is gonna be the voice of Greed. And Greed is a pimp. <3

I hit the dealer's room again and finally got a true yaoi doujin. However... the pairing threw me and it was half the reason I bought it.

LingxEd o_o

After that I went back to the room for a little while and chilled, before the encore showing of Fullmetal Fantasy.

It was even more insane the second time around, and we gave Vic a standing ovation. :D Plus, everyone started singing along to Ready Steady Go over the ending. XD XD XD Oh, god, it was one of those "you had to be there" moments, but I can't begin to describe the amounts of cool.

While we were waiting in line outside of the room, Vic ran by, but stopped because Windchime had her hugeacious Edward plush. Vic stopped and came back to oogle it. "I didn't know they MADE them that big! Can I hold it?" So she handed it over to Vic... and Vic ran off with it. She had to chase him down to get it back. XD

We didn't hang around for the Funi panel, but our group (Pyrochan, Marin, Kirin and the backup addition of Windchime) did our karaoke of "Ame no hi wa no sankyuu". It would have been funnier had more people realized what we were singing. :/

Our little posse then went and terrorized [livejournal.com profile] acdragonmaster's roommates. With cat-ears and all. I do believe the phrase "Dude, your sword just touched that chick's ass" came in to play. :D Also, they tried to chase us out by putting on porn. Alas, they weren't expecting us to go "ZOMGFREEPORNWHERE?"

We did leave shortly after that since the point was made, and we hung out outside of their room and drew all over everything with chalk. *points at AC* It's YOUR fault that there will now be arrays over everything. All your fault.

*coughs into hand* After that, we meandered back to our hotel to crash. It had been a busy day.

Sunday

Signifcantly less exciting than the other two days, and I killed my leg at one point and was limping around the con. Of course it had to be terribly in character of my body to decide that my left leg was useless. 9.9 Gus made a joke and I shot off after him hopping on one leg. Look at me go. 9.9 At least I didn't fall on my face.

There was another mini-FMA photoshoot that Pyrochan and I went to.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

But, in the middle of it Vic ran by and we ended up chasing him so that Pyrochan could challenge him to say something NICE about Roy. It was harder than you'd think. XD He did say that Roy was a good officer, but then had to tack on a "kidding" before he vanished. :P

We lingered around the con until they kicked us out of the Dealer's Room area, and then we went to Mitsuwa (sp? Can't remember) for a few hours. Still in costume. 9.9

Had some absolutely DELICIOUS katsu-don. I'd never had katsu-don before. I LOVE IT. Mmm. I scoffed that entire bowl despite feeling not so good. Mrg. Makes me feel like Gluttony. >.< Once done there, we went to the bookstore inside and found...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Eega no Renkinjutsushi... an English/Japanese dictionary. IT IS PURE CRACK AND I LOVE IT SO.

Sample Lines:

"I hear Ed's got a weakness for anything soft to the touch. Well, if he's a man, of course he does..." (Picture that went with it: Gropage of Psiren.)

"If Ed were Japanese, he would transmute something everytime he sits down to a meal."

"Just pray that Roy wouldn't be another kind of tyrant if he were to become a Great General Fuhrer." ("Great General" was used in the English in this book instead of Fuhrer.)

"If Roy is useless when it rains, does it mean he has any more ability when it is dry?"

This book is the greatest, crackiest thing ever. So. Much. Love.

And I cracked up hysterically after this one, as it was very appropriate: "Put katsu-don in front of Ed and he'll show an appetite as great as Gluttony's."

... no comments from the peanut gallery. >.< I had never had it before, either. God, it's tasty. Mm. Hungry. Why are there no cheap good Japanese resteraunts around here?

We hung around the grocery store, and ran into one of the other Eds from the con, one of handful of male ones. Scared me half to death. >.<

After we left there, we went to Pyrochan's, hung out, were insane goofs and finally went to sleep after a VICIOUS game of Egyptian Ratscrew. IT WAS A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH THAT I TRIUMPH. AND TRIUMPH I DID. *strikes a pose*

Monday

We slept until noon, then Pyrochan's mother treated us to lunch. We were lunatics in the resteraunt and then we drove home. Nothing terribly much to speak of.

Now, for random pictures!

I was Pride! (And Envy on the last day who posed with Wrath and Ed. <3 ....and other things in between.)

I wanted that Ed plushie too! *was content to cuddle briefly, which also stopped that other Ed cosplayer from stealing him* I think I sat next to you during Fullmetal Fantasy that night. Thanks for letting me and Yuuki/Daidoujisan squeeze in line. Much love!

PS: And it's NOT "Hamelin" (Or better yet, Hameln) that is the name of the Northern Capitol, NOT the character. THe character is named Hamel. I guess Daddy helped name him. (Cuz his daddy is the evil bastard in charge of all the baddies in Hameln.)

[identity profile] catystorm.livejournal.com 2005-05-17 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Eep! *goes back to edit teh post* I've only seen a handful of episodes of the anime, quite some time ago. *_*

I was flailing around going "I know people are coming! Must! Save! Spots!" XD

[identity profile] zrana.livejournal.com 2005-05-22 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
The anime sucks, find the manga. THe manga is crack humor and drama (and the occasional angst, mmmm) in which Hamel is a jack ass and doesn't have any misconceptions on WHO his parents are (no amnesiatic orphen), while the anime takes only the dark and drama sorrow aspect of the series and turns Hamel into an angsty "who am I" whiner.

And manga Flute kicks ass too. (Hamel's ass usually--for marionette versioning her into dancing in various costumes to make money for their travels. Hell, she herself was 'payment' for him rescueing her village. They didn't grow up together in the manga.) She's poor little lost orphen girl in anime, in manga she's abused lost princess but with a 'tude that can take it. (But she's still nice and sweet overall in personality. Just DOES stuff.)

[identity profile] iamthemurderer.livejournal.com 2005-05-21 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, good ol' Chestra.
But it's an interchangeable thing - Hamelin, Hameln, Hamel.

[identity profile] zrana.livejournal.com 2005-05-22 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Hamelin and Hameln, yes, those are exchangable. But not Hameln and Hamel. I own all 37 volumes of the manga, was part of a VoH rp for about 3 years as well, but more importantly, the manga NEVER had that little 'n' sound symbol at the end of the oversized violin wielding main charact. The katakana letters were "ha-- me ru" and nothing more.

[identity profile] iamthemurderer.livejournal.com 2005-05-22 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
And who forgot to log into the proper account? Gomen.

[identity profile] zrana.livejournal.com 2005-05-22 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry to almost attack you with a lesson, but I love VoH and hate it when misinformation about Hamel's name gets spread. *blames various fansubbers* (One group that did the original VHS fansub that I watched admitted to knowing they were wrong part way through the series but decided to keep it for CONTINUITY! x.x)

Besides, the manga is better than the anime. It has better character developement, story in general. It a bit cheesy on the rare occasion, it still has angsty dark drama, but it has crack comedy and goodnaturedness as well. And Hamel making Flute dance in a monkey suit for money.

[identity profile] iamthemurderer.livejournal.com 2005-05-22 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, no worries. I get that way with Silent Hill. Have to defend your fandoms, man.
