Now that was a Derby race. They were tight together up until that closing stretch, then the 2nd-biggest long shot in Derby history came out of nowhere.

That was AWESOME.

Never quite got the appeal of watching things go in circles.

That's why I don't like Nascar/car racing. It's really rather stupid, in the long run.

That's why I get a kick out of derby -- two minutes and it's over with.

I guess I can't really fault what you watch on tv as I spent most of my morning watching Yu-Gi-Oh and the third Mighty Ducks movie.

The third one? *winces* Ouch.

It's the only one I've never seen. It was pretty bad though and yet I was kind of bummed that I didn't get to see of all it. Yes my shame is great.

True, but honestly, I think Giacomo and Closing Argument were benefactors of a suicidal early pace, and Afleet Alex getting caught in traffic. Some once-a-year numbers players took home a fortune yesterday. I don't think we'll see a Triple Crown attempt this year... although when they come in they pay big, 50-1 longshots don't win major events with any consistency.

p.s. Love the layout.

Thanks. :D

I will admit I don't know much about horse-racing in general, it was just one of those "OMG the derby is on look at them go!" moments. ^_^

I agree that it's unlikely that we'll see a triple crown this year, but Giacomo does do well on the longer tracks, so who knows.

(Ah, the benefits of living most of the year w/in walking distance of Churchill Downs...)
