If Dean got time-skipped back to April 30th, 1973, that's ten years and a week or so before Sam is born. Azazael showed up at the six month mark, which is November.
That's a sixth-month gap in the time frame. Plans change, I get that but that's an unexplained thing that I woke up going "that doesn't make SENSE" after having convoluted dreams about Winchesters, Elrics, and houses burning down. Plus some random chick from Argentosoma who could apparently TAKE HER FACE OFF. No more burgers before bed, holy crap.
Maybe it all has something to do with Azazael's endgame? ...maybe it's part of the 'covering his tracks' once he realized that the angels were on to him and staggered the time frame.
