Yay I got the second draft of my bigbang done this weekend! That was all I did on Saturday, literally - took a hacksaw to what I'd already written and finally wrapped it up in a way that I was satisfied with. Took out the chimera aspect - it's still a little more busy than I'd like but it ended up being 36k. I took out almost 20k of words, god-damn, but added about 5k new words.
I love writing Ed and Al when they are being snarky to each other, heh.
I know there is much more tightening up I need to do, but now I'm waiting on the betas to read over it and get back to me. (I went to print it out and at a size 12 font the fucker is 103 pages. Holy shit! o_o;; It always blows me away how long physical copies of my fic are. I don't have any internal conversion for words to printed pages and I am never anywhere near close when guessing.)
( WIP meme. )
In conclusion: I have a lot of unfinished fic, aha. And that's just recent stuff. >___>; (We're not talking about the old stuff. Lalalalalala.)
I also managed to very nearly catch up on ALL the anime I am behind on:
Bakuman: I am surprised by how much I enjoy this series. I dislike Eiji until we actually got to know him, and suddenly he's one of my favorite characters.
Beelzebub: OMFG I laugh so hard at this show. The comedic potential is limitless. It's not something I feel I miss out on if I miss an episode but if I put it on I am laughing the entire time.
Bleach: ( Spoilers. )
Digimon Xros Wars: I really think the only reason I'm watching this is brand loyalty. There are a lot of angles that I'm interested in that are being completely ignored, but we're past the halfway point in the series and that's when all the previous shows start to switch things up. So we'll see.
Fairy Tail: Oh Fairy Tail, you are my favorite shounen action show on the air right now hands-down. Never change. This is one show in which I like the male characters, but I LOVE the female characters. Erza and Lucy are in front of Gray and Natsu~. Although I like them all, hahaha.
Fractale: I picked this up on a whim, it's so rare to see an actual sci/fi anime show that doesn't involve mecha. (Yet. I am sure I have jinxed it now.) I am quite enjoying it.
Gosick: Um, I am kind of a little in love with this show. It's like someone decided to make Sherlock Holmes a gothloli. She even has a meerschaum pipe that she pulls out to chew on. (It's not been lit in the anime, but other pictures do show her smoking it.) Her Watson is a long-suffering teenage boy who has a propensity for dead bodies turning up around him. He also looks like Rian. (Which is not hard, given the character design, but it's enough to make
moumusu and I giggle a lot.) It's a BONES show, so that probably says it all.
Madoka: Okay, so I'm still on episode one of this, but it's a deconstruction of the magical girl genre, and I absolutely LOVED Bokurano, which was the big deconstruction of its genre. I already know a lot of spoilers for the show, but instead of minimizing the impact it's actually making it creepier. It's also turning up a lot on reddit lately, Kyuubei in particular. I'll be finishing catching up on that later.
I still haven't caught up on Iron Man, but I figure I'll do
starving4scotch a favor and wait until we watch it together so that way I'm paying more attention to the show than her inevitable flail.
In conclusion, the media player I got off the clearance rack at Walmart (which I have since discovered was clearanced because it is not wifi-capable like the current equipment, meh, whatever) has been the best money spent ever. Now that I am all caught up on my ongoing, I can resume making a dent in my fansub backlog.
...this post ended up far longer than I'd intended. OH WELL. Something nice and long to read on a Monday morning~. Off to work go I.
