I am fufilling the "cool older person who plays well with kids" role again, and it amuses me. My younger cousins were over tonight, Walker is six and Alex is four. They love me to death, and it's really funny. They keep competing for time with me. I remember adults who used to be like that with my brother and me, and I thought it was so nifty. They weren't quite kids, and they weren't "adults."

So tired. Stormed a lot during the day, so things were interesting in Garden Center. Finished the Stackpole novel, I really liked it. There was a neat twist I really wasn't expecting near the end. Stackpole really seems to concentrate on the "father-son" bond a lot ... it's always been present in his Rogue Squadron books (Corran Horn comes directly to mind), and was a main theme in this book. The female lead just vanishes, makes me think that she really wasn't killed since this is the first in a series and there was no body.

Just a random thought. Is "silflay" actually a word, or was it coined with Watership Down? I saw it used in one other book, so now I'm curious.

Now I'm reading ... ooh, can't remember the name. The viewpoints in the book have shifted from a female reporter, to a female puma, and then to the leader of a pack of stray dogs. It's really quite interesting.

8-4 shift tomorrow. Boo on the account of rising early, yay on the time and a half, and yay on getting out of there on a holiday before dark.

Oh, my misadventure of the morning. I get into the car with my brother to go to church. He looks at me and says "we're not going to church, we're going to Florence." I kind of blink and hold on, because we made a usually 20-minute drive in 11. I broke down in Best Buy and bought the only volume of Juuni Kokki they had, which is incidently the 2nd DVD. Also broke down and bought shoujo again, Pretear. Haven't watched either DVD yet, I think the Juuni Kokki one is in the worm's car. Then, because of his lollygagging, we had to bolt back home and made the drive back, in a raging thunderstorm, in nine minutes. I thought I was going to die several times with the way he weaved in the lanes, and I looked at the speedometer once and it read 115. *shudders* But I'm still alive, and that's what counts.

Now, I've got DVDs to watch. =D
