Oh my god I wrote SO MUCH PORN yesterday. Slightly over 7k worth. I have this big lump of fic now that really needs editing and tweaking and shit and I am going to LEAVE IT ALONE for a while until I decide what I'm going to do with it.
Today is my last day off until Christmas! Not including Thanksgiving itself, although I will be sitting at home sulkily on Thanksgiving. I need to remember to order a pizza or something the night before. Since I work the day AFTER Thanksgiving, I can't go home ON Thanksgiving. I'll go see my family that weekend. (Yes, I was actually all ready to work and be pumped at the overtime before they announced we were closed. Faaaaail. Oh well, looks like I managed to not work a SINGLE HOLIDAY this year, woo hoo!)
Things I need to do today:
+ Sit down with a calendar and map out when I should have each chapter of my bigbang done by, so I stop stressing about it.
+ Write some nightbreed fic.
+ The rest of my laundry.
+ Clean the rest of the apartment.
+ Put the ornaments on the Christmas tree.
+ Take the Christmas tree topper apart and MAKE it WORK, DAMMIT.
+ Try to refrain from making jokes about Sariel being the angel on top of the Christmas tree. Fail.
+ Look around for an Ed figure I can attach wings to and make into a tree topper. Fail.
+ Get frustrated and throw the broken tree topper against the wall and sulk. Put new tree topper on the list for when I get paid on Friday.
So among the people I got to see/meet this weekend were Jon Bernthal (Shane from The Walking Dead); BOTH of the Boondock Saints (Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flannery), Margot Kidder (Really? Get on IMDB, you plebes) and Sid Haig (who apparently had a scene with Sean Connery in Diamonds Are Forever. My father, the epic fanboy. My genetics are at the least well-documented.) Also, I got a hug from Brian O'Halloran (Dante from Clerks + every other Kevin Smith movie in the View Askew'verse).
Generally, an awesome weekend. I didn't have time to see/get things autographed from most of the people I WANTED to, so most of them were seen in passing. However, the con really made me miss anime cons, despite how much I would want to drop kick half of the attendees. I'll need to make note of when the next anime con is in the area so I can save up and hit the dealer's room.
Day 23- Do you have a favorite Elric brother? Why or why not?
Oh, NOW I know why I put this off, ahahaha. Well, this is not like it's HARD, Christ, how many copies of Ed do I have running around in musebox now? (Ed who is boinking Kenshin, Sariel!Ed, Reverse'verse!Ed, mashup!Ed, samurai!Ed, Nick (shut up, you totally count as an Ed, don't give me that look), and soon nightbreed!Ed.) That's seven. Almost enough for a baseball team.
No, that is not a goal.
For reference's sake, there are only two Al's who bum around musebox. I think part of the reason I prefer Ed to Al is because Ed is more broken than Al. Al has his shit together, despite being in a suit of armor. Sure he has his own angst and his own thing, but once Ed fixes him Al is pretty normal. And still Ed's babysitter. Al does not need Ed in the same way that Ed needs Al. Ed has this codependence thing that slots pretty will with Roy's, and is part of the reason I think they work together well as a couple (once Ed is resembling an adult. Resembling). This is also a reason that I ship Al and Winry together - not to tie up loose ends but besides the fact they've got that whole childhood friends thing, they both love Ed very dearly and want to punt him across town nearly every day.
Ed is just more fun to write. I love Al, I love how Al grows up gangly and responsible and has kids specifically to torment Ed with. (Okay, that's not the reason for the last one he just uses that as an excuse some days.) But I don't find him as interesting-from-every-single-angle-let's-see-what-he-does-here that I do with Ed. In conclusion, I need to wrap this up now before I turn into Roy and start mooning over Edward's hair and eyes and very, very, tight leather pants.
