Pissed. 5/3 is epic fail.

One overdraft of $68 dollars resulted in almost $400 in overdraft fees. For seven days.

One of the overdraft fees is $165. BY ITSELF. With no explanation other than "you overdrafted, now cough up."

OH GOD SO PISSED.

The regular overdraft charges? I can eat, that's totally my fault. But everything else, WHAT THE DAMN HELL.

Change banks. Seriously. That's basically a bank screwing you because you can, and they love to do that (it's why I moved from Citibank.)

That was me earlier this year. Overdrafted by a small amount of money, and being isolated from my usual mail location in a couple of weeks suddenly puts me $400 in the hole. I really don't get that logic; why do they punish you (and so swiftly and severely) like that when chances are you can't afford the charges they're putting on you if you don't have money?

I eventually got a credit card through 5/3 that I never use that's supposed to give me overdraft protection so this kind of bullshit doesn't happen to me again, but I wouldn't blame you if you changed banks altogether.

More often than not, a nice phone call saying "please waive the fees" especially if it's the first time it's happened, will get rid of at least part of it. (www.consumerist.com for more tips)

I had a check bounce w/Chase (outrageous inexplicable fees just like every other big bank) and tried it. They didn't even ask any questions, just said "ok" and the fee was waived.

If you're going to switch banks, go with a credit union at least. Don't bother with a big chain. However, I banked with 5/3 for years and years and I would never have switched banks if I didn't have to (no 5/3 on this side of the country).
